All the lights things are confusing
as bf1942 was not originally designed for everything to have Dynamic Shadows, although you can type in the Dynamic shadow code for everything it will probably crash the engine
The Closest thing ive seen to "lighting effects" was muzz flash that was made quite large, and made more transparent to give the illusion of a large glow coming off of the Muzzle flash.
Basically its like applying and effect to explosion, Say i make a lamp, and then add an Effect to that, and overlay it with the Muzzle Flash texture, and use photoshop to increase its transparency, Well then i have a close representation of light.
As for the stuff extracted from the executables, i also have been fiddling with these,
The Light. Commands have crashed when i go to add them to anything but the sky, though remembering that BF1942 does have some lense flare to it. Theres Dynamic Lighting in Bf1942..just, i dont really know how much ya can really do with it.
Ima fiddle with the RayTracer stuff, though a ray tracer would shot out in one direction and might even create mutiple shadows on characters, If multiple ray tracers where drawn in Multiple directions it could get to be similar to light, but theres no way to simulate it exactly, as in order to do this youd need ray tracers shooting out in all directions with an Infinate number of directions for them to go, and Infinite can not be surpassed.
Id try the Muzzle Flash idea, other than that. I think this is just a limit to the BF1942 Engine.
