Good texturing with BC42 is close to impossible or at least very time-consuming. If you want to have it looking good, I strongly suggest learning to use Ed42. It is far quicker than BC42 and allows easily for a far higher graphics quality. But BC42 is fine for a first map, of course  . And maps always can be retextured afterwards, no biggie there.

I think Senshi is the only one that is almost near to on-topic in the Questions forums... @bigunit: I was in S-Opz, but they're confusing me with the back and forth between COD4 and BFV, so I'm not officially in it. |

well they are now officaly in both cod4 and BFV cause they now have a server for COD4 |

I personally use BC:vietnam to make my maps (terrain(not texture of terrain), vehicles, static objects, etc.) but I would like to learn how to texture with ED42 so I can have sweet textures in my new map. |
