i am brand new to mapping and only started about 2 days ago and im kinda getting the hang of it, i do have a question though i have a made a air map thats only 3 islands 2 in either corner and one in the center to capture, what textures should i u se to paint the islands cause i rly have no idea

anyways. for starters you gotta decide what kinda setting your in. do you want a dark or white sand around the edges of the beach? or maybe rocks? or hell. if it's a lake you might want mud and then grass a few meters up from the water edge. it's really all your call dude. while we have some of the best bf mappers ever on the site they spend hours in Editor 42 painting the terrain and adding small details and such. personally I'm a horrible mapper but hopefully someone else can point you in the right direction.

ok thanx very much guys for the input i will try a few of those ideas, the map i am making isnt as good as it could be but as i said i started only a few days ago so ill just make this one pritty basic and spend alot more time on my next project

and trust me, i wont be dissing any of u soon

heres my plann, first i want to get mapping down to a fine art, then after that i want to learn about how to make my own skins and so on, then SSM
this will probably happen a way down the track but none the less i want to know, oh another question ive seen in another topic that this guy put his own custom picture on billboards and so on, how would you go about doing that ?
