Post subject: | Modding Client/Server Objects.rfa |
I have done some searching on this subject but have come up empty handed, so forgive me if this is a repeat. I do have experience in client side modding but server side is new to me. Hopefully what I am trying to accomplish is possible. And here we go... Is it possible to edit both client and server objects.rfa files and play the game on the server? My attempts thus far have been unsuccessful, however, I am curious to know if I am missing something. Here's what I've done so far: 1. I checked both sets of .rfa's to ensure they were same. 2. I unpacked one of the .rfa's with WinRFA, made the changes in a text editor and repacked it with the GUI_RfaPack.exe with compression. 2a. My changes: -Changed the USMarine Assault kit M16 to a CAR15 and renamed the kit to "SawBones". -Edited the USMarine Recon kit to a MedPack, M19 and M40. -Gave the Quad50 900 rounds. 3. Uploaded the file to the server, copied the same file to ../archives on my system. 4. Ran the server, etc., and received the ol' faithful "Data Differs From Server". How can the server and my system differ if I used the same file? After I got the error, I ran the game in Local and all the changes went off without a hitch. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, SawBones |

Haha Yes well what you are trying to do wont work serverside or as we say (ss) you cannot edit the objects.rfa ss period other clients objects have to match the servers objects instead of changing the mod files try doing this mapside unfortunately you cannot make custom kits but you can change the kits that the map has in the init.con of the map after you change the kit from us_assault to us_specops then pack the map putt it on the server and it will work this should open the door to serversidemodding BTW make sure you tell us what mod but you were very descriptive for your first post |
