I am looking to get into the 3D modeling part of all this cause it looks like a blast. Cost is one aspect I am concerned abuot. I have used lightwave before and liked it's interface but never got the animation to work. I also used bryce and it made me cry.

Opinions? input?

It is my belief that cost should not hinder one's creativity, especially if you are not making money from it. There are plenty of places to get what you want w/o paying...IRC and bitTorrent are an option.

GMax is a chopped version of 3DSMax that's free.
Made by the same folks.... I think of it as a Demo version.


It still makes models for games it just doesn't have a renderer.
