Most of the time I used 3DSMax to import the vehicle in question and then import the object I want to position. I then position it in the scene and write down it's cooridents. But it might be a bit complicated for you if you don't know how to import vehicle, set correct unit scale in editor, etc etc...

I recently found out how to animate stuff! Thanks to a tutorial on making weapon animations! I only needed to know how to actually get the dam objects in 3DSMax to move when I press the little play button and such. On the subject of vehicles. I experimented with making the main mesh of the toad kart a animatedMesh. Worked fine...but...THere was no drag at all. It was like it had zero air drag and would bounce around like crazy if you hit a bump and especially when it blows up. So I guess the vehicle would have...
